Motorcyclists and moped driver (PTWs) are road users with a particularly high accident risk due to the relative lack of protection of motorcyclists. Given the young age of many victims, these accidents often result in a high loss of life expectancy for fatalities and high social-economic costs for severely injured motorcyclists. Facts & Figures
Every year, there are more than 4,000 motorcycle fatalities, more than 2,500 moped fatalities and more than 250,000 injured riders in Europe. These numbers must go down!
Main Objective: 10 Early Stage researchers and 5 Experienced researchers in one network to accelerate the Research in the field of Powered Two-wheelers safety.
Achievements so far (December 2009): 18 Early Stage Researchers with contracts between 9 months and 3 years, 4 Experienced researchers all with a one year contract.
